JUNEAU TO SITKA

SAMPLE ITINERARY
Your itinerary and activities can be tailored to your preferences.

DAY/NIGHT BEFORE CHARTER: Arrive in Juneau. For charters of 6 or more nights, we pick you up at the airport, take you on a city tour and visit to Mendenhall Glacier, and offer a complimentary additional night on the yacht dockside, with the entire yacht to yourselves as your crew stays ashore.

DAY ONE: Charters typically start at noon. Enjoy a light lunch of finger foods as we travel. There are incredible views of the Mendenhall Glacier, so be sure to have your camera ready. Rounding Douglas Island , look for Humpback whales, Black and Brown bears and Bald Eagles. Entering Taku Inlet brings great views of the Taku Glacier and the Juneau Ice Fields. We round Grand Island, transit the upper section of Stephens Passage and enter Taku Harbor where we moor at the public dock for the night. Appetizers will be served on the flybridge before dinner along with your favorite beverage. After dinner and desert you can go ashore to explore the historic deserted cannery that thrived in earlier years. We put out crab and prawn pots overnight, and you can also do some fishing. Once night falls you are welcome to look through our library of movies and CDs for your viewing or listening pleasure. Our main TV has jacks on the front to connect a videogame for the children.

DAY TWO: If you arise early, go exploring or join Captain Mike to review our catch in our prawn and crab traps. Breakfast is served underway as we continue down Stephens Passage to Holkham Bay where we enter the Tracy Arm, with some of the most magnificent areas of Alaska with cliffs and waterfalls cascading from as high as 1000 feet and water reaching depths of 1000 feet. Keep a good look out for icebergs as we cruise 3 hours up the fjords to Sawyer Glacier. We get as close as we can safely and watch for giant sheets of ice to crash into the water. When you are ready, we will cruise back to Holkham Bay to anchor for the night. Relax with drinks and appetizers on the Flybridge. Then after dinner we can take our sport boat to shore or go looking for bears. This bay is great for crabbing and we put out the pots overnight.

DAY THREE: Today we transit Fredrick Sound , known for abundant Humpback Whales. Enjoy lunch and the sights on the bridge as we pass Brothers Island for a two hour trip to the entrance to Pybus. Our anchorage at Cannery Bay is one of the most beautiful in Southeast Alaska, with outstanding exploring, crabbing, prawning and fishing. Watch the bears feast on Salmon in the nearby steam. After dinner, enjoy a kayak trip to work off that big dinner.

DAY FOUR: This morning has plenty of time to explore, as we cast off about 10AM. We travel 5 hours through Fredrick Sound and Chatham Strait to Warm Springs Harbor. Lunch is served on the flybridge underway. This area is also known for Humpback Whales and Orcas. Once we arrive at Warm Springs on Barranof Island, we will tie up to their dock if space is available, right in front of a massive waterfall, or we anchor in a nearby cove. After dinner hike up to the hot springs in front of a raging river, soak your kinks out, and stroll up to the beautiful lake.

DAY FIVE: Go to the hot springs for a morning soak before departing at 10AM for Angoon, the only development on Admiralty Island. We can stop to fish for halibut along the way while lunch is served. Around 2PM or when the tide is right, we will enter Angoon to anchor or moor dockside. We can have a guide to show you around the town and give some of the history of the area. Favorite Bay is a great area to go kayaking. The fishing is very good here and you may want to try your luck.

DAY SIX. Breakfast is served as we cross Chatham Strait and enter the protected waters of Peril Strait. Our secluded anchorage is called USAF Bay and is totally protected from the wind. It's a great area to crab, prawn and fish for salmon. Lunch will be served as we travel.

DAY SEVEN: Breakfast served underway as we travel to Sitka. We will travel through Deadmans Reach down into the cut and through Sergius Narrows. We will enter Salisbury Sound and head south in the inside waters to Sitka arriving about 12 noon. A light lunch will be served prior to our arrival at a Sitka marina where you will depart.
